Gaurījātaka

Gaurījātaka is a Jyotiṣa text dealing with horoscopes for predicting a person's lifespan according to the rotation of the stars. It may or may not be considered a minor work since critical editions are not available. There also may be more than one texts with the same name. The text is composed in dialogue format between supreme deities Māheśvara (Śiva) and Gauri (Pārvatī). There are tables on the last three folios containing horary calculations for devination. There are a total of 89 verses in the manuscript. This Ms. is written in 8–9 lines per folio. Cover page contains title. Title also present in colophon (f. 25b) along with the date. Mistakes are blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins.

Gaurīmantra

Gaurīmantra is a devotional text dedicated to the Hindu deity Gaurī a form of Pārvatī who is the consort of supreme deity Śiva. The Ms. seems to be created for personal recitation for devotional worship rather than public. The text may have been drawn from a purāṇic text or a Tantric text. This Ms. is written in 8 lines per folio. Title present in the beginning of the text. Back page is blank. Mistakes are blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins.




Gayāprakaraṇa (section of larger work Tristhalīsetu)

Gayāprakaraṇa is a section of larger work Tristhalīsetu. It is a Dharmśāstra text written by Nārāyaṇa Bhaṭṭa who is well renouned in this genre. The text specifically outlines the rituales and rites associated with the pilgrimage to Gayā which is a major pilgrimage center in India along with Kāśī modern day Varanasi and Prayāga modern day Allahabad or Prayagraj. Gayā is believed to be a sacred place for making offering to ancestors to attain salvation. This Ms. is written in 9 lines per folio. Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. Gāyatrī

The work named Gāyatrī is a collection of different Gāyatrī mantras. It contains Gāyatrī mantras of Hanumāna, Viṣṇu, Guru, Sarpa, Agni, Pavana, Devī. This manuscript is written in 8 lines per folio. There are 2 double vertical margins present on each side of the folio with colourful designs in between them. Mistakes are covered with yellow or crossed out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. The full stop style brackets are in red.




Gāyatrībhāṣya

Gāyatrībhāṣya is a philosophical commentary on the Gāyatrī Mantra deitified as a goddess. The text is attributed to Śaṅkarācārya (f.2b). The Gāyatrī mantra is a highly revered vedic verse found in the 3rd Mandala; 62nd Sukta; 10th Mantra of the Ṛgveda Saṃhitā. It is dedicated to Savitā (the Sun deity), the ṛṣi associated is Viśvāmitra and the meter of the verse is Gayatri from which the verse is named. Gayatri meter consists of 24 varnas (syllables) and three pādas (stanzas) in total. This Ms. is written in 9 lines per folio. Title present in colophon (f. 2b). There are tripple vertical margins on each side of the folio. Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. Gāyatrībhāṣya

Gāyatrībhāṣya

Gāyatrībhāṣya is a commentary on the Gāyatrī mantra by Sāyaṇa who is known for his commentary on the vedic texts known as Vedārtha-prakāśa. The Gāyatrī mantra is a highly revered vedic verse found in the 3rd Mandala; 62nd Sukta; 10th Mantra of the Ṛgveda Saṃhitā. It is probably drawn from a minor Upaniṣad or minor Purāṇic text. where it is common to see dialogue between sages and deities. The Gāyatrī mantra is a highly revered vedic verse found in the 3rd Mandala; 62nd Sukta; 10th Mantra of the Ṛgveda Saṃhitā.
