Bṛhadāraṇyakavyākhyāmitākṣarā

This work is a commentory on Br̥hadāraṇyakopaniṣad by Nityānandāśrama, disciple of Puruṣottamāśrama (ncc20/215). The manuscript consists commentry on third, fourth fifth, seven and eighth Adhyāya. Each Adhyāyas is divided in brāhmaṇa. The firts brāhmaṇa of the third Adhyāya is on (f. 1a–4a), second brāhmaṇa (f. 4a–9b), third brāhmaṇa(f.9b –19b), Forth brāhmaṇa(f. 19b –35b), Fifth brāhmaṇa (f.35b–48a) third Adhyāya end on (f.49b). The forth Adhyāya is on (f. 49b.–71a), Fifth Adhyāya (f. 71a),firts brāhmaṇa(f.71a–75a) second brāhmaṇa(f.75a –77b), third brāhmaṇa(f.77b–79b) .The folia from no 98 to 133 are missing. Its starts from Seventh Adhyāya end on (f. 111b). Eight Adhyāya(f.111b–136a). The end of the fifth Adhyāya and the sixth Adhyāya are missing from the manuscript. The manuscript consists of different handwritings, but at the end of the manuscript only one scribe is mentioned.




Bṛhadāraṇyakopaniṣad (Adhyaya 1-3 & 5-6)

Bṛhadāraṇyakopaniṣad belongs to the Śukla Yajurveda. Upaniṣad consists of three sections: Adhyāyas 1–2, called the Madhukāṇḍa (“Honey Section”) getting its name from the final segment ,Adhyāyas 2–3, called the Yajñavalkyakāṇḍa ("Yajñavalkya Section") , in which this sage plays the central role: and Adhyāyas 5–6, called Khilakāṇḍa (“Supplementary Section”). This manuscript contains first 3 Adhyāyas and 5th and 6th Adhyāyas . First and second Adhyāya contains each six brāhmaṇa's(six sections). The first and second Adhyāyas conveys the main teaching of the advaita philosophy and the nature of upadeśa. And third the phenomenal superimposition of the world on brahman exhibit in telling manner. Third Adhyāya have nine brāhmaṇa's ( nine sections) and fifth Adhyāya have fifteen brāhmaṇa's( fifteen sections) it deals with certain modes of meditation. , sixth Adhyāya have five brāhmaṇa ( five sections).( Brihadaranyaka Upanishad - Shankara Bhashya translated by Swami Madhavananda, page 8 to 16). This manuscript is written in 9 lines per folio. Cover page contains title. Back page is blank. Title present in colophon (f. 79b). The text contains red metric accents. Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. The Ms. is dated saṃvat 1937 and śaka 1802 in (f. 79b).

Bṛhadāraṇyakopaniṣad belongs to the Śukla Yajurveda. Upaniṣad consists of three sections: Adhyāyas 1–2, called the Madhukāṇḍa (“Honey Section”) getting its name from the final segment, Adhyāyas 2-3, called the Yajñavalkyakāṇḍa ("Yajñavalkya Section”) in which this sage plays the central role and Adhyāyas 5–6, called Khilakāṇḍa (“Supplementary Section”). The first kāṇḍa conveys the main teaching of the advaita philosophy and the nature of upadeśa. The first two chapters of the Madhukāṇḍa deals with the vedic rites, pravargya, which forms a part of the ritualistic section (karma-kāṇḍa) of the veda. Third chapter of the Madhukāṇḍa, In this chapter, the phenomenal superimposition of the world on brahman exhibit in telling manner. Fifth Adhyāya deals with certain modes of meditation. Adhyāya starts with concept of Brahman is infinite. This manuscript is written in 9 lines per folio. Cover page contains title enclosed in an ornamentally decorated red frame with flowers and vines. Title also present in colophon (f.87b). Bṛhadāraṇyakopaniṣad (Adhyāya 2)

Bṛhadāraṇyakopaniṣad belongs to the Śukla Yajurveda. Adhyāyas 1–2, called the Madhukāṇḍa (“Honey Section”) getting its name from the final segment. This manuscript contains second Adhyāya which is on brahman. It starts with the dialogue between Dṛpta and Bālāki (son of Balākā) and Ajātaśatru on the brahman. The second section of this (chapter) Adhyāya explain the prāṇa, body and organs, as also the vital force, consist of these gross and subtle elements is truth this section is explains the nature of those elements form of the body. In the third section we see the two forms of Brahman, one is connected with the body and organs which is in subtle form and second is same brahman is immortal , fearless. forth section is dilogue between yājñavalkya and maitreyī on knowledge on the self and the last section is end on the lineage of teachers. Bṛhadāraṇyakopaniṣad (Adhyāya 3)

Bṛhadāraṇyakopaniṣad belongs to Śukla Yajurveda. Adhyāyas 2–3, called the Yajñavalkyakāṇḍa(Yajñavalkya Section”), in which this sage plays the central role. This manuscript contains third Adhyāya. This Adhyāya is relating to Yajñavalkya, which is mainly argumentative. This starts with first king Janaka (Janaka, Emperor of Videha,)Aśvala then Yajñavalkya debate with Ārtabāga on life after death , it consists of the Grahas (organs) and Atigrahas (objects)?. In the third brāhmaṇa (section) Yajñavalkya gives answers to Bhujyu on the questions of sacrifice. In the fourth section we see debate on the brahman and the self between Yajñavalkya and Uṣasta. Same debate with the Kahol and next argument with Gārgī on what is the universe pervaded? Bṛhadāraṇyakopaniṣad (Adhyāya 4)

Bṛhadāraṇyakopaniṣad belongs to Śukla Yajurveda. This manuscript has forth Adhyāya also the manuscript mentioned Adhyāya numbers as per Bṛhadāraṇyakopaniṣad and as per Śāṇkarbhāṣya. Adhyāya 4 starts with dialogue between Janaka and Yajñavalkya on the organ of speech is (fire) is brahman. Then Yajñavalkya explains the organ of speech is the supreme brahman. After that the Adhyāya continue on brahman topic. Yajñavalkya rejects the views of Jitvan, Uddhālaka, Satyakāma, Vidgdhas on brahman. This Adhyāya consists a further dialogue between Janaka and Yajñavalkya self as one’s source of light on what happens at death. Also dialogue between the Yajñavalkya and his wife Maitreyī on self and it ends on lineage of teacher's.
