Āśvalāyanadarśapaurṇamāsahautra prayoga

Āśvalāyanadarśapaurṇamāsahautra prayoga is a part of Āśvalāyana Śrautasūtra a manual for various Vedic rituals from the Aitareya Brāhmaṇa of the Ṛgveda. This text describes and outlines the New Moon and Full Moon sacrifices which are considered important vedic rituals through which other rituals are also inintiated. This Ms. is written in 9–10 lines per folio. Cover page contains half title. Back page is blank. Title present in colophon (f. 12b). The text contains red metrical accents. Mistakes are blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. The Ms. is dated śaka 1753 (f. 12b).

Āśvalāyanadarśapaurṇamāsahautra prayoga is a part of Āśvalāyana Śrautasūtra a manual for various Vedic rituals from the Aitareya Brāhmaṇa of the Ṛgveda. This text describes and outlines the New Moon and Full Moon sacrifices which are considered important vedic rituals. This Ms. is written in 16–19 lines per folio. Title present in the begining of the text in (f.1a). Title also present in colophon (f.4b). There are double red vertical margins on each side of the folio. The text contains red metric accents. The Ms. is dated śaka 1744 (1821) in the dark half of Kṣayamāsa (the diminutive month) (f. 4b). Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. Significant syllables and words rubbed with orange powder for highlighting.

Āśvalāyanadharmaśāstra is a Smṛti text based on Ṛgvedic literature. The text is attributed to Āśvalāyana. It deals with Vedic/ Hindu rituals, Hindu codex, Hindu saṃskāras and traditional customs based on Ṛgvedic canon. The texts verses are generally divided into 24 Adhyāyas (chapters). Adhyāya 1 from (f.1b–8a). Adhyāya 2 from (f.8a–13b), Adhyāya 3 from (f.13b–19a), Adhyāya 4 from (f.20a–22a), Adhyāya 5 from (f.22a–22b), Adhyāya 6 in (f.22b). Adhyāya 7 from (f.22b–23a), Adhyāya 8 from (f.22b–23a), Adhyāya 9 from (f.23a–24a), Adhyāya 10 from (f.27b-28a), Adhyāya 11 from (f.-28a-29b), Adhyāya 12 from (f.29b-33a), Adhyāya 13 from (f.33a–34b), Adhyāya 14 from (f.35a–36a), Adhyāya 15 from (f.36a–51a), Adhyāya 16 from (f.51b–52a). This Ms. is written in 9–12 lines per folio. Back page contains title. Title and alternate title Āśvalāyanasmṛti present in colophon (f.51a). There are double red vertical margins coloured yellow on each side of the folio. Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. Āśvalāyanagṛhyasutra (Adhyāya 1-4)

Āśvalāyanagṛhyasutra is a Kalpaśāstra text used to perform various Vedic/Hindu rituals, rites, ceremonies and Saṃskāras particularly domestic rituals in households ranging from conception to death of a person. It is a Smṛti text based on the Aitareya Brāhmaṇa of the Ṛgveda. It is part of the 6 Vedāṅgas (Imagined body parts of the Vedic texts in the form of a person that is Vedapuruṣa) which are listed as Chanda (Feet of the Vedas), Kalpa (Hands), Jyotiṣa (Eyes), Nirukta (Ears), Śikṣā (Nose), Vyākaraṇa (Mouth). The text consists of 4 Adhyāyas (chadters) which are further devided into Khaṇḍas (sections). This Ms. contains Adhyāya 1 from (f.1b–17a). Adhyāya 2 from (f.17a–23b). Adhyāya 3 from (f.23b–29b). Adhyāya 4 from (f.29b–37a). This Ms. is written 7–9 lines per folio. Cover and back page contain title. Invocation, colophon, introduction of speakers are highlighted in red. The double Pūrna Virāma (full stop) style vertical brackets in the margins are red. Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. Some marginal corrections, word divisions marked in red. Ms. is Dated on folio(37a)1932 Vikrama Saṃvata, caitravadya, 1 candravāsare (1875 CE, Wednesday, April 7).

The text consists of 4 Adhyāyas (chadters) which are further devided into Khaṇḍas (sections). This Ms. contains Adhyāya 1 from (f.1b–16a). Adhyāya 2 from (f.16a–21b). Adhyāya 3 from (f.21b–28a). Adhyāya 4 from (f.28b–36b). This Ms. is written 7–8 lines per folio. There are double red vertical margins on each side of the folio which have faded away. The double Pūrna Virāma (full stop) style vertical brackets and word devisions are in red. There are marginal corrections by many hands. Many syllables have faded away.

Āśvalāyanagṛhyasutra is a Kalpaśāstra text used to perform various Vedic/Hindu rituals, rites, ceremonies and Saṃskāras particularly domestic rituals in households ranging from conception to death of a person. It is a Smṛti text based on the Aitareya Brāhmaṇa of the Ṛgveda. It is part of the 6 Vedāṅgas (Imagined body parts of the Vedic texts in the form of a person that is Vedapuruṣa) which are listed as Chanda (Feet of the Vedas), Kalpa (Hands), Jyotiṣa (Eyes), Nirukta (Ears), Śikṣā (Nose), Vyākaraṇa (Mouth). The text consists of 4 Adhyāyas (chapters). This Ms. lacks an ending. This Ms. is written 7–10 lines per folio. Folios have been eaten by worms in many places. Cover page contains some other title. Back page is blank. There are double red vertical margins on each side of the folio. Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out.




Āśvalāyanagṛhyasūtravṛtti

Āśvalāyanagṛhyasūtravṛtti is a commentary by Devasmin on the Āśvalāyanagṛhyasūtra is a Kalpaśāstra text used to perform various Vedic/Hindu rituals, rites, ceremonies and Saṃskāras particularly domestic rituals in households ranging from conception to death of a person. It is a Smṛti text based on the Aitareya Brāhmaṇa of the Ṛgveda. This Ms. only contains the commentary. It explains each and every sentence of the sūtras clarifying not just their meaning but also their deeper significance making it very useful for practicing the Gṛhyasūtra. This Ms. is written in 11 lines per folio. Cover page contains title. Few mistakes are blacked out. Some marginal corrections are present. The Ms. is dated saṃvat 1876 (1819 CE), on Manda (Saturday) the 11th of Āṣādha (June–July), in the bright half of the month (f. 103b).




Āśvalāyanapavamānasaura

Āśvalāyanapavamānasaura contains Vedic verses from Soma sukta from the Aśvalāyana śākhā. Soma is a Vedic deity as well as a powerful sacred drink used for rituals and spiritual beliefs. This Ms. contains Adhyāya-1 (f.1b-6a), Adhyāya-2 (f.6a–14a), Adhyāya-3 (f.14a–21b), Adhyāya-4 (f.21b–24b), Adhyāya-5 (f.25a–26a), Adhyāya-6 (f.26a–29a). This Ms. is written 12 lines per folio. Cover page is blank with vertical and horizontal margins creating a frame. Title present in intermediate colophon after every Adhyāya. There are quadruple black vertical margins on each side of the folio. The text contain red metric accents. Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. Significant syllables and words rubbed with orange powder for highlighting. The Ms. is dated 1752 Vikrama Saṃvata, śrāvaṇavadi, 6 caṃdre (1695 CE, Tuesday, August 16).




Āśvalāyanaśākalapadapāṭha

Āśvalāyanaśākalapadapāṭha text contains Ṛgvedic mantras in Aṣṭaka divesion belonging to Āśvalāyana or Śākala śākha traditions which are known to follow this style of division of the text. The Ṛgveda is divided into 8 Aṣṭaka (sections) which are further divided into 8 Adhyāyas and then Vargas. The vedic verses are recited in different styles which resemble patterns according to their śākhā for error free preservation and memorization of the text. In the padapāṭha style of recitation the each word of the vedic verse is seperated and recited individually for grammatic analysis or understanding the contextual meaning. This Ms. has eight parts. It contains Aṣṭaka-1 (f.3a–72b) in part 1 but lacks a begining, Aṣṭaka-2 (f.1b–69a) in part 2, Aṣṭaka-3 (f.1b–63b) in part 3, Aṣṭaka-4 (f.1b–40b) in part 4. This Ms. is written 10–13 lines per folio. Title present in intermediate colophon of each Aṣṭaka (sections) and Adhyāya. The Ms. is dated Śaka 1758 in some places and1759 in others.




Āśvalāyanaśākhā śrāddhaprayoga

Āśvalāyanaśākhā śrāddhaprayoga as the name suggest is a priest manual for performing vedic funeral rites and rituals probobly based on the Āśvalāyanagṛhyasutra which contains these particular rituals. The text though belongs to the Āśvalāyana śākhā. This Ms. is written in 10–11 lines per folio. Cover page is blank. Title is present in the begining. Mistakes are blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins.
