Description
Gopīcandanopaniṣad is a Upaniṣad listed among the 95 minor upaniṣads in the Muktikā Upaniṣad. It is a medieval period Vaiṣnava upaniṣad focussing on the application of gopīcandana (sandal wood paste) which is applied to the forehead by devotees of Viṣnu creating a mark called a tilaka. Some of the stanzas of the Ms. do not match the standard editions of the text. This Ms. is written in 21 lines per folio. Title present in colophon (f.1b). Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. some corrections and additions present in the margins. Significant syllables and words rubbed with orange powder.
