About this Manuscript
Āśvalāyanasmṛti (Adhyāya 1–12) is a Smṛti text based on Ṛgvedic literature. The text is attributed to Āśvalāyana. It deals with Vedic/ Hindu rituals, Hindu codex, Hindu saṃskāras and traditional customs based on Ṛgvedic canon. The texts verses are generally divided into 24 Adhyāyas (chapters). This Ms. contains only 12 Adhyāyas. Adhyāya 1 from (f.1b-6b), Adhyāya 2 from (f.6b-7b), Adhyāya 3 from (f.7b-10b), Adhyāya 4 from (f.10b–11b), Adhyāya 5 from (f.11b–14a), Adhyāya 6 in (f.14b–15b), Adhyāya 7 in (f.15b–17a), Adhyāya 8 from (f.17a–19a), Adhyāya 9 from (f.19a–22b), Adhyāya 10 from (f.22a–24a), Adhyāya 11 from (f.24a–27a) Adhyāya 12 from (f.27a–30b). This Ms. is written in 11 lines per folio. Cover page contains title. There are triple or quadruple black vertical margins on each side of the folio. Mistakes are blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. Significant syllables and words rubbed with orange powder for highlighting.
