Introduction
About this Manuscript
Daśakarma Vidhi is a ritual text concerning the various life-cycle rituals performed in the Newar Buddhist tradition. Peculiarly, it considers Yoniśodhana, Sīmantopanayana, Jātakarma, Nāmakaraṇa, Upanayana, Cūḍākarma, Vratadeśa, Samāvarta, Pāṇigrahaṇa, and Agnikarma as the Daśakarma. However, the manuscript describes only the rituals up to Cūḍākarma. It then proceeds to the Homa Vidhi and the Nāgamaṇḍala Pūjā Vidhi. The manuscript mentions the name of King Yoga Narendra Malla. Although the manuscript is not in good condition, it provides valuable information regarding the evolving concept of the Daśakarma tradition in Newar Buddhism.
