Gaṅgālaharī

Gaṅgālaharī is a devotional text to the Hindu river deity mother Gaṅgā as the title suggests waves of the Gaṅgā. The text comprises of 52 verses describing the glory of the deity and the river. This Ms. is written in 7–8 lines per folio. Title present in back page. There are 2 double black vertical margins present on each side of the folio. Mistakes are covered with white or blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. Significant syllables and words rubbed with orange powder for highlighting. The Ms. is dated 1783 on (f.12a) with neither saṃvat or śaka. There is also a reference to the month Śrīmukha Saṃvatsara year, which could correspond to 1726 CE or 1861 CE depending on what year we take Vikrama or Śaka. The Saṃvatsara is a 60 year cycle of Jupiter years (Samvatsaras) in Vedic astrology. Śrīmukha is the 7th in the 60-year cycle
