About this Manuscript

Garbhagītā is a supplementary text to the epic Mahābhārata. The text is commonly found as part of the Skandapurāṇa and sometimas as a stand alone text. The text is presented as a dialogue between Lord Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna similar to the Bhagavadgītā which is part af the Bhīṣma Parva section of the Mahābhārata. But the content is different. This text gives spiritual insight to conception, pregnancy, development of a foetus and the consciousness of an unborn child. This Ms. contains three parts [1] Gītāsāra (f.1b–4b), [2] Aśvamedha parva 29 verses (f.4b–5b), [3] Additional 8 verses. This Ms. is written in 11 lines per folio. Cover and back page contains title. Alternate title Gītāsāra present in marginal abbreviations. Mistakes are blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. Significant syllables and words rubbed with orange powder for highlighting.
