The second chapter of the epic Rāmāyaṇa by Vālmīki contains many major episodes of the story. It begins with a heroic description of Rāma and continues through his departure from Ayodhyā, Daśaratha’s demise, Bharata’s return to Ayodhyā and gose to see Rāma, his meeting with Rāma, during which he informs him of King Daśaratha’s death. The text concludes with Bharata’s decision to proceed to Nandigrāma. The manuscript contins 127 sargas (sub-chapters).
