About this Manuscript

The Saṃhitāpāṭha is a Vedic text that deals with pitch accents. Three fundamental pitch accents (Svara) are used in Vedic Sanskrit. This particular manuscript features distinct accent marks and consists of 20 chapters. Chapters 1 (f. 7b) through 4 (f. 25a) describe the Saṃhitāpāṭha. Chapters 5 (f. 32b) through 20 (f. 168b) focus on the Saṃhitādīrghapātha. Although the initial and final folios are quite damaged, the text remains complete. On the last folio, two large flower motifs flank both sides of the colophon.
