Introduction
About this Manuscript
An anonymous Ayurvedic formulary belonging to the tradition of Rasaśāstra and therapeutics. The extant portion contains numerous medicinal preparations in which the disease is first specified, followed by the ingredients and their quantities expressed in traditional units such as tolā. Several rasa compounds, including Tridoṣahārī-rasa, Sitabhañjī-rasa, Sannipāta-sūrya-rasa, Mṛtasañjīvanī-rasa, Udayabhāskara-rasa, Amṛtasāra-loha, and Pratāpalaṅkeśvara-rasa, are prescribed for disorders such as sannipāta-fever, kapha-fever, vāta disorders, and respiratory diseases. The work represents a practical manual of Ayurvedic pharmaceutics and mineral preparations. On the basis of its contents and arrangement, the manuscript may tentatively be identified with a Yogasaṃgraha, the Bhaiṣajyaratnāvalī, or the Yogaratnākara, although the absence of a colophon precludes a definite identification.
