Āśaucanirṇaya

Aśaucanirṇaya is a text by Tryaṃbaka Paṇḍita which deals with ritualistic purification from impurites particularly believed to be caused from a women giving birth, from a dead corpse or touching a person belonging to the Śūdra varna (worker clans with lower social standing). The rituals can range from bathing, prayers or observances to regain purity depending on the impurities or social standing of the person in the society. This Ms. is written in 9 lines per folio. Cover and back page are blank. Title present in marginal abbrevation on top of (f. 1b). Title present in colophon (f. 7a). There are double red vertical margins on each side of the folio. Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. The Ms. is dated saṃvat 1934 and śaka 1799 (f. 7a).
