Gaṇapatisūkta

Gaṇapatisūkta is from the 23rd sūkta of the 2nd Maṇḍala of the Ṛgveda Saṃhitā. The sūkta is dedicated to the vedic deity Gaṇapati who is considered to be the remover of obstacles and also the deity of wisdom. Chanting the sūkta is believed to remove obstacles and increase knowledge in a person. Gaṇapati is associated with Brahmanaspati or Bṛhaspati who . This vedic version of the deity is not associated with an elephant head at any capacity unlike the purāṇic version of the deity who posesses an elephant head. This Ms. is written in 17 lines total. Title Gaṇeśasūkta is present in the colophon (f.1b) but the word Gaṇeśa is not present in the text hence Gaṇapatisūkta is a better title. The text contains red vedic metric accents. Mistakes are blacked out. There is a slight fold in the center of (f.1a) which has blurred the text in the center.
