About this Manuscript
Āśvalāyanadharmaśāstra is a Smṛti text based on Ṛgvedic literature. The text is attributed to Āśvalāyana. It deals with Vedic/ Hindu rituals, Hindu codex, Hindu saṃskāras and traditional customs based on Ṛgvedic canon. The texts verses are generally divided into 24 Adhyāyas (chapters). Adhyāya 1 from (f.1b–8a). Adhyāya 2 from (f.8a–13b), Adhyāya 3 from (f.13b–19a), Adhyāya 4 from (f.20a–22a), Adhyāya 5 from (f.22a–22b), Adhyāya 6 in (f.22b). Adhyāya 7 from (f.22b–23a), Adhyāya 8 from (f.22b–23a), Adhyāya 9 from (f.23a–24a), Adhyāya 10 from (f.27b-28a), Adhyāya 11 from (f.-28a-29b), Adhyāya 12 from (f.29b-33a), Adhyāya 13 from (f.33a–34b), Adhyāya 14 from (f.35a–36a), Adhyāya 15 from (f.36a–51a), Adhyāya 16 from (f.51b–52a). This Ms. is written in 9–12 lines per folio. Back page contains title. Title and alternate title Āśvalāyanasmṛti present in colophon (f.51a). There are double red vertical margins coloured yellow on each side of the folio. Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. Significant syllables and words rubbed with orange powder for highlighting.
