Amṛta sāgara grantha

Amṛta sāgara grantha is a manual and treatise on traditional Ayurvedic medecine by Vaidyadevīcandra. The text has been compiled by studying the works of the great Ayurveda ācāryas: Caraka (Caraka Saṃhitā), Suṣruta (Suśruta Saṃhitā), Vāgabhaṭa (Aṣṭāṅgasaṅgraha) and Bhāvamiśra (Bhāvaprakaśa) present in 4th line (f. 1b). The author's patron was the king of Jaipur, Savāi Pratāpa Siṃha (Sawai Pratap Singh of the 18th century) for the physical wellbeing of his subjects as mentioned in the begining of the text (f. 1b) and colophon (f. 684b). The text focuses on maintaining proper (1) Daily Routine, (2) Sleep Routine, (3) Physical Health and (4) Functioning of all organs systems. It contains diagnosis of disease like using Nāḍīparikṣā (pulse rate test) and Mūtraparikṣā (Urine test) as well as herbal remedies. There is a Magic square table, all lines adding to one sum in (f. 189a). This Ms. is written in 9–11 lines per folio. Cover page contains Maṅgalavākya. There is an additional wooden cover. Title present in the fifth line of text (f. 1a). Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. Significant syllables and words rubbed with orange powder for highlighting.
