About this Manuscript

Bhāgavatamahāpurāṇa-Dvitīyaskandha (Adhyāya 9) is the 9th chapter of the 2nd Canto of the purāṇic text. The text is listed among the18 Mahāpurāṇas. The text primarily belongs to the Vaiṣṇava philosophy. Adhyāya 9 of Skandha 2 discuses how the supreme lord existed even before the creation of the universe, the lord is actively involved in maintaining his creation and will remain even after the dissolution of hiss creation. The lord is the supreme deity Viṣṇu who is seperate from the universe but still remains the cause and effect of it. The Dvaita (Dualistic) and other Vedānta philosophies which are not strictly Advaita (non-dualistic) get support from this text. This Ms. is uncomplete although it starts with a proper Maṅgalavākya and Numbered verses, 29 verses from the begining of the text are missing under their respective speaker titles. The text starts from speaker title Srībhagavāna Uvāca. The rest of the text is complete till the end. This Ms. is written in 8–9 lines per folio. Title present in colophon (f. 1b). Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out.
