Aśokatrirātravrata

Aśokatrirātravrata is a text which describes festivals, rituals, observances and pilgrimage sites. It is a part of the uttaraparva of the Bhaviṣyapurāṇa. This text contains an observance dedicated to the Aśoka tree in the month of Chaitra (March-April) when the tree is fully bloomed. The observance is performed to invoke blessings and overcome sorrow. The tree is mentioned in the epic Rāmāyana where Rāvaṇa had held Sīta in captive in a garden of Aśoka trees. This Ms. is written in 9–10 lines per folio. Title present in colophon (f. 6b). Mistakes are blacked out Some corrections and additions in the margins. For Ms. Coll. 390; Items 1447, 1453, 1454, 1456, and 1459 same scribe and paper were also used may have originally been from the same manuscript.
