Introduction
About this Manuscript
This text belongs to Aitareya-Āraṇyaka II and includes chapters four, five, six, and seven, collectively titled Ātmaṣaṭaka. Chapters four, five, and six of Aitareya-Āraṇyaka II together constitute the Aitareya Upaniṣad, while the seventh chapter contains only a single mantra. Thus, the present text actually covers the entire Aitareya Upaniṣad and also includes the seventh chapter of Aitareya-Āraṇyaka II. This work is similar to Items 1190, 1234, and 948, although this manuscript uses the mantra from the seventh chapter at the beginning of the text as the śāntimantra. This Ms. is written in 8–9 lines per folio. Title present in marginal abbreviations. Text contains red metric accents. Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins.
