About this Manuscript

This is a great epic Rāmāyaṇa attributed to Vālmīki. It has seven chapters, in which the work contains the third chapter Āraṇyakāṇḍa, this chapter is pivotal because it marks the transition from Rāma's life as a prince to his life as a wandering ascetic and warrior, leading directly to the conflict with Rāvaṇa. It covers Rāma, Sītā, and Lakṣmaṇa visit various sages in the Daṇḍaka forest, including Atri, Śarabhaṅga, and Agastya; The encounter with Rāvaṇa’s sister, which triggers the primary conflict; Rāvaṇa's plot to lure Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa away from the hut; The abduction of Sītā by Rāvaṇa; The heroic attempt by the vulture-king to save Sītā; Meeting with Śabarī. The manuscript is good, colophone part of every subchapters are highlighted with red ink. The work used 2 different script Nepālākṣara and Old Devanāgarī. folio 1-30 has Nepālākṣara and from folio. 31 continuation of Old Devanāgarī script.
