Description
An anonymous Ayurvedic treatise on materia medica dealing with the properties and therapeutic actions of medicinal substances. The extant portion describes the qualities and therapeutic uses of various drugs and mentions important medicinal groups such as Daśamūla, Kākolī, Medā, Mahāmedā, Jīvaka, and Ṛṣabhaka. The work belongs to the tradition of Ayurvedic lexicons and pharmacological literature. The marginal notation “Mapā” may represent an abbreviation of the Madanapāla tradition, suggesting a tentative identification with the Madanapāla-nighaṇṭu, although the absence of a colophon prevents a definite attribution.
