Description

The manuscript Kadalīvratakathā from Bhaviṣyottara Purāṇa is dedicated to the worship of the banana tree. It describes a puja performed during the planting of the banana tree. After the pūjā, and kathā is presented in the form of a dialogue between Kṛṣṇa and Yudhiṣṭhira Kadalī as the goddess Kadalīśvarī. These observances are performed for the welfare of family members and the prosperity of families. Title is taken from title colophon (f. 5a). The manuscript is written in 10–11 lines per leaf.; 5 leaves are foliated 1–5, upper left and lower right verso. Mistakes are covered over in yellow; vertical margins marked with double red line.; European stock of paper with unidentified water mark
