Description
The manuscritpt is of Janmāṣṭamīvrata and kathā taken from bhaviṣyottara purāṇa. It consists of the whole vrata (observance) process, mantra for worshiping the birth of lord Kṛṣṇa which come in the hindu luni-salar month of śrāvaṇa (August)(1a–2b). The Kathā starts from (f. 2b–8b). Additional foliation (f. 122–129) suggests that it was part of a larger manuscript and was likely housed with similar texts. According to the penn. cataloguer Item 1460 was very likely housed with this manuscript and created by the same scribe. Title is taken from the colophon (f. 8b). The manuscript is written in 9–10 lines per leaf. 8 leaves are foliated 1-8, lower right verso.
