Description
An 18th century sanskrit Hastāmalaka stora is by Śaṅkarācārya. It represents the Advaita Vedanta. Hasta-āmalaka is meant to be ‘an amla berry (āmalakam) in the hand (hasta) Śaṅkarācārya used this berry as a metaphor to acknowledge Hastāmalaka’s ‘ripeness’. The text having Ānandagiri's commentary Hastāmalaka runs parallel above and below the main text. It is written in 11 lines per leaf. 11 leaves are foliated 1–11, upper left and lower right verso. Mistakes are covered over in yellow or blacked out. Some corrections and additions in margins; significant syllables, words, or phrases highlighted in red throughout, vertical margins marked with double red line.
