Description
Govindastotra more commonly known as Bhajagovindastotra is a devotional text attributed to Śaṅkarācārya which may very well be a student or a later period Śaṅkarācārya instead of the original. It is written as a bhajana which is ment to be sung. The text generally consists of 31 to 33 verses depending on the edition. Though this Ms. only contains 13 verses. The text implies the essence of Vedānta philosophy by explaining the difference between General day to day knowledge and knowledge of self or spiritual knowledge emphasizing its importance through Govinda which is associated with Brahman the ultimate truth. This Ms. is written in 7 lines per folio. Cover and back page contain title. Title also present in the beginning of the text and colophon (f. 3a) along with the scribe. There are tripple red vertical margins present on eoch side of the folio. Mistakes are blacked out. Some corrections and additions present in the margins. Significant words and syllables rubbed with orange powder for highlighting.
