Description

Gāyatrīstavarājastotra is a stotra text is dedicated to the Gāyatrī mantra deitified as a goddess believed to be the mother of the Vedas. It is found in Viśvāmitra Samhita a Dharmaśāstra text included in the Smṛti Literature and the Rudrayamāla Tantra a tantric text. The Gāyatrī mantra is a highly revered vedic verse found in the 3rd Mandala; 62nd Sukta; 10th Mantra of the Ṛgveda Saṃhitā. It is dedicated to Savitā (the Sun deity), the ṛṣi associated is Viśvāmitra and the meter of the verse is Gāyatrī from which the verse is named. Gāyatrī meter consists of 24 varnas (syllables) and three pādas (stanzas) in total. This Ms. is written 11 lines per folio. The folios are breaking off on the edges. There is slash tear in the first folio. The rest of the folios are browned and very brittle. Mistakes are blacked out.
