Description
Gaṇeśasahasranāma is a part of the Padmapurāṇa which is listed among the 18 Mahāpurāṇas. It is a devotional text dedicated to the elephant headed Hindu deity Gaṇeśa. As the name suggests the text contains 1000 names of the deity. The Ms. contains 215 verses. This Ms. is written in 6 lines per folio. The cover page contains an coloured illustration of Gaṇeśa seated on a lotus flower and flanked by two attendants standing on lotus flowers (f. 1a). There is a second illustration of a seated goddess (possibly Lakṣmī), flanked by a single attendant or worshiper in (f. 38b). Back page contains title. Alternate title Mahāgaṇapatisahasranāma present in colophon (f. 42b). There are double red vertical margins present on each side of the folio with yellow in between. Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. Some corrections and additions present in the margins. The Ms. is dated in (f.42b).
