Description
This is a ritual text from Dharmaśāstra school, Ekoddiṣṭa śrāddha vidhi. It is a specific hindu ritual performed to honor and provide peace to the soul of a single or individual. Parvana Śrāddha, which is performed for a collective group of ancestors, but Ekoddiṣṭa which means One intended for or focused entirly on one person. The text contains Mainly the ritual or Prayogaḥ part. It is performed for a single soul who has not yet been merged into the "ancestral collective" (Pitṛ-loka). In most Śrāddha rituals, deities known as Viśvedevas are invoked. However, in Ekotiṣṭa, Viśvedevas are not invited. Rituals typically use a seat made of two or three blades of Kuśa grass, but Ekoddiṣṭa śrāddha vidhi uses only one blade of grass to symbolize the single individual. The procedure of the vidhi follows; Sankalpa, Āvāhana, Arghya, Piṇḍa Dāna, Brahmana Bhojana, Tarpana. The manuscript here only has 8 folios also folio no. 4 is missing so it assumes that it is an incomplete text. Noteable that there are some grammatical mistakes perhaps mistaken by scribe or regional basis.
