Description

A Dharmaśāstra text explains ritual manuals related to various forms of dāna (donation). It cites several Purāṇic works, especially the Skandapurāṇa, but also includes selections from the Liṅgapurāṇa, Bhaviṣyapurāṇa, Matsyapurāṇa, and Kūrmapurāṇa, as well as a passage from the Mahābhārata. The manuscript outlines the rules (religious law) governing various kinds of gifts, such as the gift of a wife, posthumous offerings ("gifts" to the recently deceased), the gift of a cow, and other types of dāna. The text also includes a section on mantras used in worship (pūjā). (Written in 8–10 lines per leaf.; 16 leaves foliated 1–16, upper left and lower right verso.
