Description
The manuscript belongs to the tradition of Āyurvedic medical literature. It contains numerous medicinal formulations, powders (cūrṇa), pills (guṭikā), decoctions, and therapeutic prescriptions for the treatment of fever, diarrhoea, oedema, disorders of the three doṣas, and other ailments. The concluding section includes vājīkaraṇa (aphrodisiac and rejuvenative) recipes intended to promote strength, vitality, fertility, and rejuvenation. The colophon, “Iti Cikitsā Samāptā” (“Thus ends the medical treatment section”), confirms the medical character of the text. The work may therefore be classified as an Āyurvedic therapeutic compendium or medical formulary.
