Description

This is a treatise on Vedānta philosophy. The manuscript contains a sub-commentary, Bhāṣyaratnaprabhā, on Śaṃkarācārya’s Śārīrakamīmāṃsā-bhāṣya, which itself is a commentary on the Śārīrakamīmāṃsā or Brahmasūtra. The sub-commentary was composed by Govindānanda, a disciple of Gopāla Sarasvatī. The original work is divided into four adhyāyas, and each adhyāya is further divided into subchapters called pāda. This manuscript includes only the first adhyāya—an incomplete second pāda (fols. 44a–52b), the third pāda (fols. 52b–71b), and an incomplete introductory portion of the fourth pāda (f. 71b). It seems that the manuscript was originally part of a larger manuscript Ms. Coll. 390; Item 1054. This Ms. is written in 14–18 lines per folio. Title present in colophon (f. 71b). Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. Significant syllables and words rubbed with orange powder for highlighting.
