Description
Bhāgavatapurāṇa (Skandha 3) is the 3rd canto of this purāṇic text which contains 33 Adhyāyas (chapters). The text is listed among the18 Mahāpurāṇas. This Ms. contains a commentary Bhāgavatabhāvārthadīpikā by Śrīdharasvāmin which explains and gives good clarity on the complex philosophy and devotional themes present in the text. The text primarily belongs to the Vaiṣṇavism school of Hindu philosophy. Skandha-3 contains cosmological concepts like the creation of the universe by the ten-fold creation method by the supreme deity Brahmā. It also dvelves into the concept of time, the difference in lifespans between humans and gods. There is a dialogue between Vidura and Maitreya on philosophy and the importance of devotion (Bhakti) in achieving liberation. This Ms. is written in 7–15 lines per folio. Cover page contains the word Tṛtīya 3 and back page is blank. There is an ornamental red border present in each folio or 2 double red vertical margins present on each side of the folio . The main text is enclosed in a red rectangle. The (Pūrna Virāma) full stop style vertical brackets are also in red.
