Description
Bhāgavatapurāṇa (Skandha 2) is the 2nd canto of this purāṇic text which contains 10 Adhyāyas (chapters). The text is listed among the18 Mahāpurāṇas. The text primarily belongs to the Vaiṣṇava philosophy. Skandha-2 deals with cosmology like the evolution of the universe and various Avatāras (incarnations) of supreme deity Viṣṇu prior to Kṛṣṇa. It also discuses the eight-limbed path of yoga Aṣṭāṅgayoga as a means of liberation. This Ms. contains Adhyāya-1 (f.1b–2b), Adhyāya-2 (f.3a–4b), Adhyāya-3 (f.5a–5b), Adhyāya-4 (f.5b–6b), Adhyāya-5 (f.6b–8a), Adhyāya-6 (f.8b–10a), Adhyāya-7 (f.10a–12b), Adhyāya-8 (f.12b–13b), Adhyāya-9 (f.13b–15a), Adhyāya-10 (f.15a–16b). This Ms. is written in 10–12 lines per folio. Cover page is blank. Title present in colophon (f. 16b). Mistakes are blacked out. Some corrections in the margins. Significant words and syllables rubbed with orange powder for highlighting. This Ms. is a companion of Ms. Coll. 390; Item 2306 which contains a commentary on this very text written by the same scribe.
