Description

An Advaita philosophical text composed in 68 ślokas in the Anuṣṭubh metre, along with a commentary—both ascribed to Śaṃkarācārya—this work explores jñānayoga and the knowledge of the Self. Śaṃkarācārya outlines the qualities of a person eligible to follow the path of self-realization. The text also discusses the nature of the world (saṃsāra), māyā, ātman, Brahman (Universal Consciousness), and liberation. The influence of the Upaniṣads is especially prominent throughout. This work is similar to Item 1112, 1200 but this manuscript contains a commentary. This Ms. is written in 5–11 lines per folio. Title present in colophon (f. 23b). Mistakes are blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins.
