Description

Āśvalāyanagṛhyasūtravṛtti is a commentary by Devasmin on the Āśvalāyanagṛhyasūtra is a Kalpaśāstra text used to perform various Vedic/Hindu rituals, rites, ceremonies and Saṃskāras particularly domestic rituals in households ranging from conception to death of a person. It is a Smṛti text based on the Aitareya Brāhmaṇa of the Ṛgveda. This Ms. only contains the commentary. It explains each and every sentence of the sūtras clarifying not just their meaning but also their deeper significance making it very useful for practicing the Gṛhyasūtra. This Ms. is written in 11 lines per folio. Cover page contains title. Few mistakes are blacked out. Some marginal corrections are present. The Ms. is dated saṃvat 1876 (1819 CE), on Manda (Saturday) the 11th of Āṣādha (June–July), in the bright half of the month (f. 103b).
