Description

Aśaucanirṇaya is a text by Tryaṃbaka Paṇḍita which deals with ritualistic purification from impurites particularly believed to be caused from a women giving birth, from a dead corpse or from a person belonging to the Śūdra varna (worker class clans with lower social standing). The rituals can range from bathing, prayers or observances to regain purity depending on the impurities or social standing of the person in the society. This Ms. is written in 14–21 lines per folio. Title present in colophon (f. 3b). Mistakes are blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. Significant words and syllables rubbed with orange powder for highlighting.
