Description
Aśaucanirṇaya is a text by Tryaṃbaka Paṇḍita which deals with ritualistic purification from impurites particularly believed to be caused from a women giving birth, from a dead corpse or touching a person belonging to the Śūdra varna (worker clans with lower social standing). The rituals can range from bathing, prayers or observances to regain purity depending on the impurities or social standing of the person in the society. This Ms. is written in 9–11 lines per folio. Cover and back page both contain alternate title Tryaṃbakī. Title present in colophon (f. 9a). There are double red vertical margins present on each side. Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins. Significant words and syllables rubbed with orange powder for highlighting. The Ms. is dated in (f. 9a) along with scribe Bhāskara Dāḍekara.
