Description

Amarakośa (Kāṇḍa 1) is a Sanskrit thesaurus or a type of lexicon which has categorized sanskrit words arranging them in verse form to aid memorization and classification. The text is a valuable resource for learners as well as scholars. It is divided into 3 Kāṇḍas (sections). This Ms. contains only the first section known as Svargādi-kāṇḍa which contains words related to sky, heaven, celestial beings and gods. This Ms. is written in 12–15 lines per folio. Cover page contains title which is highlighted with red. Back page is blank. There are double red vertical margins on each side of the folio. Mistakes are covered with yellow or blacked out. Some corrections and additions in the margins.
